How do i change the thermostat on my 2005 Jetta gli 1.8T thermostat and where is the location of the part?

Everytime i start and the engine and drive the car until the engine is hot, then two or the three blocks later the engine starts overheating and tells me to stop the vehicle. I checked the radiator and it was cold. So what could be the problem the thermostat, or the water sensor etc.?How do i change the thermostat on my 2005 Jetta gli 1.8T thermostat and where is the location of the part? Before getting into parts changing and a guessing game stop by a RADIATOR SHOP and ask them what is wrong. How do i change the thermostat on my 2005 Jetta gli 1.8T thermostat and where is the location of the part?if your thermostat stuck close then the computer will trigger a code and the MIL (check engine light) will be on...most likely your water pump is broken, an easy way to check is open the cap of the coolant reservoir, have someone rev the engine between 3k and 4k, see if the coolant circulate in the reservoir (the coolant should come out from the smaller coolant line, from upper reservoir), the coolant should comes out fluently and not dripping !!!...good luckHow do i change the thermostat on my 2005 Jetta gli 1.8T thermostat and where is the location of the part?the thermostat is located behind the alternator inside a black plastic housing with a hose attached to it. when you take it out, stick your finger inside the hole and feel the water pump impeller with your finger, make sure it isn't broken and that it is tight on the shaft. the factory water pumps have plastic impellers that break and fail to circulate coolant.

I haven't looked under the hood of my step daughters car but her boyfriend couldn't get to it. Her boss tried and couldn't get to it. Anyone have any suggestions for when I take a look? Apparently it's in a location that you can't get to which I find hard to believe. It has to be a way to get to it to change it. What are they doing wrong and what do I do right? How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?I feel your pain.

Follow the upper hose. you should see the wires from the temp sensor protruding from the thermostat housing.

The housing is usually mounted with two bolts.

It is a tight squeeze. remove the mass air hoses if needed for maneuvering. Mine I had to remove a heat deflector of the exhaust manifold for better access.

    Drain coolant

Remove the upper hose at the thermostat housing.

The bolt size should be a metric 13mm.

I bought a set of box wrenches with an elbow and ratchet on the end. Expensive but worth it. They are cheap at Lowe's. remember the elbow is important.

I had only 2 degrees movement and took maybe 10min for removal but it was worth not having to remove more compo nets for maneuvering.

Remove old thermostat and gasket. install new one. use appropriate RTV sealant on the housing matting surfaces. tighten

Put everything back in place. pour in coolant. and your done. How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?I figured out the best way. I told her to take it to the repair shop, have them change it and I'd pay for it. lol

Theres the thermoustate, pull it out, slip in new one, bolt gasket and gooseneck back on.Then replace top radiator hose. How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix? You need a slimline 13mm racheting box end wrench, its a pain and takes a bit of skill but thats all you need. its under the throttle body, you don't have to take anything off except the air duct. make sure the cars cold and just dig down in there with the wrench usually its easiest to reach around the back of the motor, by the brake booster, get the top bolt all the way out and loosen the bottom one, the hole is slotted but you have to get it out almost all the way out to clear the thermostat itself, good luckHow do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix? You must have the 3.1 Liter engine in this vehicle, upper radiator hose connects to this aluminum neck the goes to LR corner of engine. You are going to have to take off the throttle body, where the throttle cables are connected and after you remove this you can see 1 of the bolts from the top, just loosen the top bolt a couple of turns with a open ended wrench it notched out and doesn't have to be taken out all the way. the bottom one is kind of hard but you can just fit a socket with a extention under the exhause pipe to remove this bolt, this one has to come all the way out. then this aluminum radiator neck should slide out of there. Should be 2-- 13mm bolts holding this on.

How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster?

My husband and I tried to get the bolts off each side and the one bolt is extremely long. We decided to let it alone. I have a new thermostat as the car lacks heat. This would be the obvious place to start. That one bolt-how long is it? It is the one on the right if you are facing the car. The rest of the situation I think I can handle. Pointers are appreciated. How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster? The kind of engine would be helpful. Speaking in general terms, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. That metal piece that it connects to should be most likely angled and somewhat rounded, That's the thermostat housing. The 2 bolts you talked about are most likely the correct ones if they are on either side of that rounded housing. I don't really understand the problem of a long bolt. Is it hitting something or you just think it shouldn't be that long? Most of the time those housing bolts are about twice as long as they appear that they should be and sometimes it is difficult to get them all the way out because of interference with some other component. One more tip. Be absolutely sure you get the new one in the right direction or you will be worse off than you are now. Sometimes they will not fit incorrectly but sometimes they do. The side with the spring and copper tube on it goes in the engine side. And be sure it is seated in its groove properly or it will not seal.

That's about all I can do without more details. How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster?take the water pump off and it is right in there... car that old you prob dont even need to replace the old one... just take the old one out and leave it... wont have a problem then

Have an independent shop garage replace the thermostat before you damage your $4000 engine. Don't be %26quot;penny wise and pound foolish%26quot;!How do you change the thermostat for a 2003 Hyundai Elantra?you remove the coolant hose fitting at the engine, and it's behind there. book labor time is 0.7 hrs. the hard part is getting the air out of the cooling system- you may have to jack up the front of the car to bleed it all out. At a shop, they use a vacuum / pressure filler, which sucks all the air out, then refills it under pressure in about a minute. It may take you an hour to get it out. You'd just have to let it run. The advantage of having a shop do it, is you could probably use a coolant flush anyway. Thermostats are pretty reliable if the coolant is in good shape. You can always call around to other shops, and ask them what they'd charge. They should be able to give you a price over the phone for this, but i'd plan on spending at least $125-150. $200 isn't outrageous. A lot cheaper than a new engine. How do you change the thermostat for a 2003 Hyundai Elantra?really easy most anyone can do it for under 50 bucks ...first go to any parts store and just ask forwhat you need like buy coolant and new thermostat and new gasket you wil fin dit by following top radaitor hose back to motor remove hose and the housing hose was attact to most offen two bolts and lift might have to tap it or pry it lightly to brake the gasket loose will then scrape off old gasket and repalce how you pulled it out not hard right refill radiator crank car watch flow drop and rise add more coolant as it needs it check for leaks pretty much sam eway on every car made and never go to a dealer unless theres no other shop open they wil be the highest and really any shop would do here is a few videos of how its done really every easy job maybe a good hour work on most cars you can look under hood and see where top hose is and tell how easy it is if you can see bolts just remove and your got it

How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house?

I have a 3 family unit, where the heat is controlled from the 1st floor. I live on the 3rd floor. The 1st floor people keep complaining that it is cold, the temp is set to 72, and they have a space heater which distorts the temperature. I need to have the thermostat move to the 3rd floor. How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house? If there is currently one thermostat it's safe to assume that there is only one furnace, correct? If this is the case there is no simple fix. For the units to have their own thermostats there must either be separate furnaces or be part of a zoned system. Creating a zoned system would mean installing electronically controlled dampers that will vary the amount of air sent to each unit.

If you just want to move the thermostat to the 3rd floor its no big deal. A wire just has to be run from the third floor to the furnace. Just remember that heat rises. If you set the temp at 72 on the third floor the first floor will be much cooler. How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house? The thermostat is your zone control and when you place the thermostat, remember this. You can turn the thermostat up, the heating unit will run until that particular thermostat reaches the temperature you have asked for.

Does anyone know how to change thermostat and sparks plugs on 04 Chevy Trailblazer?

I am currently having engine problems and i really dont know what is causing it. I am getting a code p0128 and they tell me that it could be the tstat or the spark plugs. Can some one please help? the car turns off everytime i go on reverse and when driving it looses power.Does anyone know how to change thermostat and sparks plugs on 04 Chevy Trailblazer? You can read the coolant temperature in the dash. It should be between 195 - 205 when the motor has warmed up. The thermostat is a %26quot;bear%26quot; to get to on the 5.3 motor as it's on the right side 3/4 of the way down near the fan shroud. The 4.3 thermostat is in the normal location. AC-Delco iridium spark plugs and * AC-Delco ignition wires should go on the vehicle at no more than 75,000 miles.

If the motor is loosing power at highway speeds one of the 6 or 8 ignition coils (you didn't say which motor you had) may be at fault. Take it to a Chevrolet dealer an let them scan your on-board computer to find the real fault of your problem. • Overheating more slowly after thermostat, radiator hose change, and radiator flush...Whats the deal?

Alright, 1997 Chrysler Concorde. Took off the radiator and flushed it, changed both upper and lower radiator hoses. At the time, I figured I would see if I could also flush the flow of water through the engine. I stuck a hose in the thermostat housing and it flowed through...So I took it off to change the thermostat, and someone had removed it totally. So I put a new thermostat, new thermostat housing, both radiator hoses, and flushed the radiator. The coolant reservoir isn't leaking, but the cap is. However, it is still overheating, just not as quickly. The water pump is working, the top hose gets hot. I am thinking there is a possible clog in the return line from the reservoir to the engine/radiator, but does anyone else have any ideas? After changing everything (also new coolant, 1gal concentrated, rest water) it idled for a while, but the coolant bottle never dropped the level. It stayed full completely. How do I change the thermostat on a 1998 Cadillac Catera?

I recently changed the lower radiator hose on my catera after I discovered a hole in it and it was forcing water out draining the radiator every time I drove and the car was still heating up, yet the radiator was full of the specified coolant (dexcool) and properly mixed. I asked a question about it here and an overwhelming amount of people told me that changing the thermostat would do the trick. How would I do this? How do I change the thermostat on a 1998 Cadillac Catera?follow the hose on the top of the radiator and at the end of it where it connects to the motor will be a clamp, loosen this clamp and pull of the hose, this will reveal nozzel that is bolted to the motor with 2 bolts, remove these 2 bolts and pull of this nozzel, this will expose the thermostat, just lift it out and you will need to scape off any gasket material from the opening on the motor and the enderside of the nozzel, install the new thermostat and new gasket with black permatex on bothsides(1/4 in.bead.)and put the nozzel back on the motor then the hose and tighten clamp, wait 30 minutes before starting car so the permatex can set up and you should be good to go.

I have changed the complete cooling system in my Wrangler and did it in about 4 hours. The thermostat is a simple job. Make sure the engine is cool and you will have to drain the collant about half way. If you want to do it right just drain all of the coolant and replace it with 1 gallon of new coolant and the rest water. Your thermostat is usually held in by no more than 2-3 bolts. Make certain to remove all of the old gasket material before installing the new thermostat and gasket or you will have more trouble. Go to your local auto parts store and purchase a Chilton manual or something comperable for your car. It is an easy afternoon job even for a nubieDoes anyone know how to change a thermostat in a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee?I have-easy!Does anyone know how to change a thermostat in a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee? It's easy, buy the thermostat, then follow the big top radiator hose down to the engine, where the hose connects in the housing that holds the thermosat, there should be 2 bolts holding it on, remove the bolts and pry the cover off, you will need a new thermostat gasket as well. That said, it should be easy to find, it's one of the large black tubes running from your radiator to the engine, the thermostat is under the housing that the hose plugs into.1998 Camaro Thermostat I have to change it any pictures?A $20 manual would be a good idea. Yet you might find pics in a forum if your lucky. Generally speaking you should find the thermostat on the housing just beyond the lower radiator hose. Don't forget the gasket and sealer.

Do i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket?

i have a small leak from my where my thermostat housing bolts on. so i need to change the gasket do i need to empty fluids first. would i need to refill and fluid.... 1989 C1500Do i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket?make sure the upper hose is empty so it doesn't spill everywhere,Do i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket?Drain it just enough so that the upper hose is empty. That way you won't have antifreeze gush out everywhere.Do i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket?not necessary to empty just fill back any you lose in the processDo i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket? No you don't need to empty the coolant , you'll loose a bit when you take it off and be sure to clean the surfaces well with a paint scraper or fine sandpaper before putting the new gasket in. Be also sure to take a small fine clean cloth and put it the hole so nothing can fall in it and what I recommend is using a high temperature gasket maker bec that will limit or avoid any possible further leaks. Also check the rad hoses and if old soft or cracked replace them and always replace the old hose clamps too when changing the thermostat etc.

Just don't forget to test the anti-freeze mixture with a anti-freeze tester , plus if the coolant hasn't been changed in awhile it's a good idea to change it too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.Do i need to empty my antifreeze when i change my thermostat gasket?Depends on the age of your antifreeze and the type. I believe you have the red or orange type in your vehicle. If it is aging, may be to your advantage to change out to restore additive levels.

Newer antifreeze would probably be OK to reuse. Putting a tube on the radiator petcock makes hitting a bucket or bottle easier and avoids washing junk off the car into the antifreeze.

Volkswagen jetta 97 overheats how to change thermostat?

My volkswagen Jetta 1997 overheats and fan does not come on. I want to change the thermostat. Is it hard. Where do find it under the hood? Is it hard to do this? Can I get a manual on the internet that shows me how? ThanksVolkswagen jetta 97 overheats how to change thermostat?I would suggest that before you start looking ar replacing the thermostat, that you try and isolate the problem.

    a. You mention the fan does not come on. - Have you checked the fuse for the fan.

    b. Have you checked if the fan motor is functional. - This is easily done by applying 12 v from the battery directly onto the fan motor leads. (you do not have to worry about which is positive or negative for this test.)

    c. Are you sure that the sensor unit to switch on the fans is working. Generally found at bottom of radiator. I while back I was puzzled with exactly the same problem. Changed thermostat, checked if fans worked by supplying power directly to them, only to discover it was the sensor unit not working. Did not switch on as temperature rose.

After checking the above three items I would then do the following checks

    1. Is V- belt driving pump not loose and slipping.

    2. Check in vicinity of pump if there are a few drips of coolant dripping under the pump it is likely the pump but remember the coolant may not make it to the ground.

for following tests engine must be warm - so make sure the top radiator hose gets warm after 5 minutes

    3. Pump impeller that may have sheared. To check if pump is operating, take of radiator cap and run car for a while, you should be able to see water circulating (movement of water (will not occur while engine is cold as thermostat stops flow). - if you can move the throttle with you hand under the hood, cables running to a connector on springs when you hit the throttle is should suck the fluid down with the radiator cap off.

    4. Thermostat not opening - as above, but no indication of water movement even when engine is hot

    ----------------

Note sometimes difficult to distinguish between last two.

..Volkswagen jetta 97 overheats how to change thermostat? There is hose that goes from top of radiator on front driver side ,follow that hose ,its about foot long, and connects to plastic housing, that has2 screws on it connected on engine, you will have to take the clamp of the hose and unscrew those 2 screws ,under plastic/thermostat housing is thermostat, and same way you take thermostat off put new one in and clamp the hoses.and your done.

thanksHow do you change thermostat 1995 monte carlo?Once you have the throttle body unbolted and the linkage unhooked.

You can either smach it with a soft rubber mallet, or your hand.

Then you can get to the tube, and the problem wont be so bad

Is it protocal to change out thermostat when adding freon?

1999 Dodge Intrepid: My mechanic replaced thermostat when all I wanted was freon. Car has been overheating ever since. He says it is protocal to change out the thermostat when freon is added. I never had any problems with overheating before. I have had it back to him twice and another mechanic once since, and they cannot find a problem with cooling system. So now he's checking the heads. By the way, the thermostat and coolant was replaced again since it was changed out. And, if it were a cracked or warped head, wouldn't it stay overheated and not go back down once turned off? It takes some driving around town or stop and go traffic, uphills, etc. before it starts to get hot. I was told here that I should look for bubbles in the reservoir and that would tell me if I have a problem with heads. I saw no bubbles. Thank you in advance for any help I can get--My mechanic is looking at it again today!!!Is it protocal to change out thermostat when adding freon?you are getting ripped off. find another mechanic. my Chrysler Concorde started overheating when i added freon to the system . i replaced my thermostat twice and that didn't help. come to find out the electric fans didn't come on when my AC was turned on , have them check your fans to make sure they operate properly or you may have to replace them . you can get some high volume fans at the parts store that will help you better than the stock ones. you are not the only one with this overheating problem , many intrepid and Concorde have this problem which they failed to fix at the factoryIs it protocal to change out thermostat when adding freon? You don't change the thermostat when adding freon. Totally different systems. There are many reasons for over heating. Hopfully your mechanic knows what he's doing and covers all the bases before condeming your cylinder heads. Good luckIs it protocal to change out thermostat when adding freon? If that's the same mechanic that changed your thermostat when he added freon you definitely need to get a new mechanic cause he don't have a clue or hes ripping you off. Some things that could cause overheating are a bad water pump or belt that runs the pump,a blocked up radiator from road debris or it needs flushed out or it could have a blown head gasket or a cracked head.

There's the full owner's manual, it shows and tells you how to do it pretty much step by step :)

-omgyay_dotcomHow to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working? There could be a lot of reasons for OVERHEATING.

    1st reason (Low fluid level)

2nd reason Thermostat isn't working properly

3rd reason (Fluid needs to be replaced)

4th reason (water belt is loose)

5th reason (air compressor was aerating and getting air pockets )

6th reason (Air Fan doesn't work properly)

Try to remove the thermostat and drive for few days and if everything will be okay than just replace the thermostat with new one.

You can get thermostat from any parts store or on ebay.

Gauge needs to be fixed too, check the fuses. How to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working?it is very easy. just two bolts. what you will do is basically fallow the upper radiator hose too a little metal piece comming off of the front of your block. take this off and the thermostat is sitting inside there REMEMBER WICH WAY IT IS SITTING SO YOU DONT PUT IT IN BACKWARDS!! LOL(most likely the front) before youe take this out though take the radiator cap off just to relieve pressure in the system if there is any. and colant will spill out obliviously so get something to catch it. and your gauge is most likely not working because your ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor is not working. this also can cause your engine not to run to its peak performance. some cars have two ect's and some have one: one to control a gauge, and one for an input for the computer. but that is just a hunch at what could be the prob. good luck hope this helpsHow to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working? Can we assume its a 350 %26quot;V8%26quot;..the Thermostat can be found at the opposite end of the %26quot;Top Radiator Hose looking from the radiator, in other words where the radiator hose hooks to the engine. Its a Aluminum adapter plate with two machine bolts. You remove those two bolts after you have removed the hose and you will find the thermostat. Notice how its mounted in there..and replace with a new one with a new gasket.

The Temperature gauge sensor will be on the right side as you face the engine, near the first spark plug. It looks like a brass plug with a wire connected to the center of it...

Both parts are very easy to replace.

How do you change a head gasket in an 89 Honda Accord LXi? Also how do you change the thermostat on this car?

Can you change the Head Gasket by yourself or is it a complicated job for the mechanic only? Where is it located on a 89 Accord engine, and what tools would i need if i am doing it by myself?

Also, is the thermostat easy to replace on this car? If so, is it easily accessible within the engine? Where is it located, and what tools do i need for the job?How do you change a head gasket in an 89 Honda Accord LXi? Also how do you change the thermostat on this car?Well I will try to answer the thermostat part. Simply follow the large hose out of the top of the radiator until you get to the engine. There will be a clamp holding the hose onto a metal piece that has two bolts. Remove the clamp and the bolts. The thermostat is underneath and should be easily removed and replaced. Some vehicles have a gasket that is replaced at same time, and should come with the replacement thermostat. Simply reverse the process to install and refill any lost anti-freeze with standard 50/50 mix of antifreeze/water. IF you don't know where the radiator is, this repair is best left to a mechanic.

Unless you have a torque wrench, I would leave the head gasket to a mechanic.

First, get a replacement thermostat at auto parts store (make sure they double check the stock #; they all look similar and you want the right one the 1st time). Get some coolant too, if there's none left from the flush. Follow the radiator hose (large black hose on top of radiator) from the rad. to the engine block; where the hose connects to the block is where the thermo. is...usually 2 bolts to hold it in place. Be sure to look at instructions because the thermo. has to be installed the correct way facing up. Swap thermo, replace hose, add coolant if needed %26amp; good to go

Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat?

The car is a 92 sentra. I Need to change the thermostat, can anyone easily explain what I need to buy, and step by step how to change it? I know a little bit about cars (I can identify what the thermostat looks like) But really need to fix my car asap without paying someone else to do it. THANKS!!!Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat? You'll need a new gasket along with the thermostat. The thermostat is located where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. There should been a metal housing that you'll have to disconnect, using a socket wrench and probably a 1/4 or 3/8 inch driver. Take out the old thermostat and gasket, clean off any remaining gasket with a putty knife clean it well, make sure you don't get any debris in the opening. Put in the new thermostat and gasket. Tighten the metal housing back up. You should be able to do this without having to disconnect the upper radiator hose. Good luck. Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat? You're welcome. Anyway, the thermostat is usually at the engine end of the upper radiator hose and you take that housing off, 2 maybe 3 bolts, lift up and there is the thermostat.

Clean mating edges on block and housing use plenty of gasket sealer and a new gasket and viola, it's done.

Of course if something might be in the way you have to get it out of the way.

How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?

I need a description on how to change the thermostat on a 1997 Jimmy. I don't really have experience with this sort of thing but I heard it's easy to do yourself. Please include whether or not I need to drain anti-freeze and if the car needs to be cool when I change it.How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?Anytime you are going to work with the cooling system, you need to make sure the car is cool. Not an extra step you need to know, just common sense.

A thermostat is one of the simplest things you can change. Basically, you're just going to follow a hose about 2 inches in diameter from the top of the radiator near the cap and trace it to the top of the engine. Unscrew the hose at that location and the thermostat will be visible after you remove the hose. Careful not to spill too much antifreeze when you remove the hose. If you do it right, you won't have to add any more antifreeze. Put it back in the reverse order.

If you spill antifreeze, make sure no pets drink it.How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.

Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.

Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.

Remove the gasket and scrape it carefully from the surface of the housing and the mounting surface on the engine. If the gasket remains on either of the surfaces, there will probably bea coolant leak after reassembly. Some engines use a rubber O-ring to seal a thermostat housing.

Compare the size of the thermostat to the old one. They are of different sizes, types, and temperature ratings.

The temperature rating is stamped on the sensing bulb on the bottom of the thermostat. The temperature bulb faces the block.

When replacing a thermostat, be sure that the thermostat fits into the groove in the block or outlet housing. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the engine will overheat.

    Install the gasket.

Reinstall the thermostat housing. Refill the system and run the engine or pressure test to check for leaks.

When the engine has reached operating temperature make sure the thermostat opens.

You should be able to see coolant circulating within the radiator.

Another way of checking thermostat operation is to feel the top of the radiator hose or use a thermometer or multimeter with a temperature probe to confirm that the coolant is warming up.

If the engine is overheating, but the top hose is still cool to the touch, the thermostat is stuck closed and must be replaced.

    NOTE

When a paper gasket is used and the recess is in the thermostat housing, it is a good practice to position the thermostat into the recess and glue the gasket to hold it in place. If it falls out of its groove during installation, the outlet housing can be cracked or a coolant leak will result. Before tightening the water outlet housing, try to rock it back and forth to be sure it is flush. Housings are often cracked during this step. How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy? For starters it is not that hard to do. I would however purchase a repair manual and have it handy when doing the job. Yes you will have to drain off some of the radiator fluid. I can't remember off the top of my head if you can change it out without removing the plenum but I know you will have hoses to remove and the location of them can be confusing. Good Luck

after that it goes cold. I think I may need to change the

thermostat and wonder if there is an easy way to do this or

could there be another reason for this problem.

Help appreciated. BillIs there an easy way to check/change thermostat on Astra? It does indeed sound like your stat is jammed open. So long as you're not losing water, that is.

If you can't get around to changing it (what with it being f-f-f-freezing at the moment, try blanking off the bottom half of the rad with tinfoil (just like everyone did in winter in the 60's and 70's) to raise the temperature a bit.

A good double check, is to see if your oil filler cap is covered in %26quot;mayonnaise%26quot; on the inside. If it is, the engine's being overcooled and not getting hot enough to drive off any condensation. Is there an easy way to check/change thermostat on Astra?its not your stat, sounds more like a vent prob, make shore controls on recirculate, the curled arrow,Is there an easy way to check/change thermostat on Astra?mmm, they work, or dont work, speed doesnt matter...
