Thermostat change in MX3?

My car doesn't ever seem to warm up or takes a very long time doing so. Someone has suggested that the thermostat is not working, but after doing some research I found that someone else changed theirs with no change. Could there be anything else wrong? It runs perfectly, but even though the heat gauge shoots up to half way shortly after running, it does not generate heat until it has run for quite some time, and even then very sparingly. Any idea how I can resolve this please?Thermostat change in MX3?Drain the coolant out of the radiator. Take the radiator off the car and fill it up with water and see if it comes out of the bottom of the radiator. If not the radiator is blocked which is causing your problem i have ahd this problem 4 or 5 times on mx3s and early mx5sThermostat change in MX3?it could be the heater matrixThermostat change in MX3?The radiator, in extreme cold, cools the coolant faster than the engine can heat it so your thermostat is closed more than open and coolant does not circulate properly. Therfore the heater can't put out warm air. You can partially cover your radiator to reduce the air flow and it will run hotter. Ever notice trucks with radiators partially blocked ?

Change Thermostat on a 1995 Audi A90 Quattro V6 - need location on vehicle and easiest way to change.?

Orange engine light comes on after driving about 15 to 20 minutes in cold weather. Didn't have problem in summer time --- problem started last winter and returned this winter. Have had codes reset and sensor changed but light still comes on. If I shut the car off and turn it back on, the code resets itself and the light goes off. I get some warm air but not enough for the heat gage to move...even after considerable driving distances. I believe that it is the Thermostat that is causing this problem, but unlike domestic cars which are easily located and changed, I don't know if this is the problem for sure and don't know where to locate the thermostat. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks.Change Thermostat on a 1995 Audi A90 Quattro V6 - need location on vehicle and easiest way to change.?most every car made follow top radiator hose back to motor remove hose remove two bolts lift housing

dexterI drive a 1999 Dodge Durango and need to change the thermostat...where is it located and how do I change it?the above answer is the best, the only thing I would add is to remember which way the thermostat is situated in the housing.

You do not want to install it upside down.

If you have mimimal experience this is an easy replacemet to do.

Just remember which way the thermostat is oriented inthe housing!!!!!!I drive a 1999 Dodge Durango and need to change the thermostat...where is it located and how do I change it?If you have a V8, you will have to remove the a/c compressor, because there is not enough room to remove the hose clamp holding the top hose to the thermostat housing. If you haven't done one before, it can be a daunting situation. You have to unhook the electrical connections from the compressor, remove a nut holding the hose bracket near the alternator. There is enough slack in the a/c hoses to move the compressor to the right side out of the way with out discharging the refrigerant.

The thermostat housing is steel and held on with two bolts, after removing clean all the old gasket off the manifold and housing. Place the thermostat in the manifold long side down, put on the gasket and bolt everything back like you found it. Considering you don't even know where it is located or how to do it; I'd say you don't have any experience with tools or engines.

Don't mess with it, risk of doing it wrong are high.

    Consecuences are expensive.

How can I change the thermostat in a 98 ford escort zx2?

Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.

Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.

Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.

Remove the gasket and scrape it carefully from the surface of the housing and the mounting surface on the engine. If the gasket remains on either of the surfaces, there will probably bea coolant leak after reassembly. Some engines use a rubber O-ring to seal a thermostat housing.

Compare the size of the thermostat to the old one. They are of different sizes, types, and temperature ratings.

The temperature rating is stamped on the sensing bulb on the bottom of the thermostat. The temperature bulb faces the block.

When replacing a thermostat, be sure that the thermostat fits into the groove in the block or outlet housing. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the engine will overheat.

    Install the gasket.

Reinstall the thermostat housing. Refill the system and run the engine or pressure test to check for leaks.

When the engine has reached operating temperature make sure the thermostat opens.

You should be able to see coolant circulating within the radiator.

Another way of checking thermostat operation is to feel the top of the radiator hose or use a thermometer or multimeter with a temperature probe to confirm that the coolant is warming up.

If the engine is overheating, but the top hose is still cool to the touch, the thermostat is stuck closed and must be replaced. How can I change the thermostat in a 98 ford escort zx2?take it to a repair stationHow can I change the thermostat in a 98 ford escort zx2?I am not trying to be funny but if you have to ASK this question you should not even TRY to do the job. How do I change the thermostat on my 1998 Buick century?

where is the thermostat on my 1998 Buick CenturyHow do I change the thermostat on my 1998 Buick century?it's located at the opposite end of the upper radiator hose, under the ball shaped metal thing, inside it's own mounting container. Remove the upper radiator hose (large one coming out of the radiator on the driver's side) and then the two or four bolts that hold it down. Careful if it's tough as oftentimes it will strip the screw mounts of the mounting container. Then you'll have to remove the two bolts that hold that on,all the while getting radiator fluid all over.

MAKE SURE TO DRAIN SOME RADIATOR FLUID FROM THE RADIATOR, and that the CAR IS COLD.

Replace the gasket, and use some silicon gasket sealer on both surfaces for trouble free installation. Also this holds that darn gasket in place better as you tighten up. Don't over tighten as you need to let the heat expand first, after running to check for leaks (about 5 minute run-time) then tighten a little if need be. hope this helps

You need a heat pump thermostat that will have the %26quot;O%26quot; or orange connection.

The %26quot;O%26quot; is for the reversing value which switches the valve between heat and cool.

This is why you are getting heat in the cool because you don't have the %26quot;O%26quot; connection.

How can I change the battery of my home's Beutler thermostat?

Buetler is the name of a Heating and Air Conditioning contractor. Contractors often have their name and phone # printed on thermostats that they buy in bulk. If you can take the thermostat off of the wall plate you can probably find another Manufacturer name or model #. If this is a contractor branded thermostat it is probably acutally a Honeywell, White-Rodgers, Robertshaw or Braeburn thermostat. In any case theres a good chance that after you remove the thermostat from the wall plate you will see where to change the batteries if the thermostat takes batteries. Many digital thermostats are powered by the air conditioning equipment and do not have batteries. If your not seeing a low battery indicator and you just have a blank screen you may have a problem with the indoor section of your heating and air conditioning equipment. How can I change the battery of my home's Beutler thermostat?Flip open the door and change it! The engine coolant thermostat should be under the bell shaped housing mounted to the engine where that hose connects to it. Make sure you put the new thermostat in the same way the old one was (NOT reversed!) Use a new gasket. It's a good time to flush the coolant system real well by temporarily leaving the old thermostat out and reconnecting the radiator hose to allow free flow for flushing. of the thermostat is bad the engine will overheat at all time, also if the waterpump or radiator are bad

if its getting hot only at idle and slow speed then its not the thermostat, it would be the fan not working almost always, the clutch in it is worn out, or if its electric thne it doesnt come on when the temp switch says to

Rostislav, you have two options: Given that it is a relatively small job, you can see if a handyman does it or just seek the person who ought to know about doing it for sure, and that's an electrician. Fortunately, there are plenty of local handyman and electrical contractors seeking to give free estimates with no obligation, and taking advantage of this is the consumer-smart way to go about finding an accurate answer to your question. It's important that you get a local estimate and not rely on guesses found here on Yah, as a lot of factors really bear on the cost of such a project, including the following: The cost of material and labor greatly varies by location.

Either your radiator is not full or you've added too much antifreeze or you only have antifreeze in your radiator. It's suppose to be 50/50 mixture. Antifreeze holds heat better than water, that's why it's great to have it in the summer. It doesn't react to heat as fast. However, too much antifreeze holds too much heat and causes your car to over heat. Does your radiator/hoses have any leaks or did it and you were adding straight antifreeze.

I always thought this would cause the AC to work harder to maintain the temperature, thus leading to a high electricity bill.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage? The rule of thumb is that you can save about 3% on your heating bill for every degree that you set back your thermostatDoes constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage?yes

we did a 2 yr study on changing the temp at night and turning it back up in the am, with a programmable thermostat,

we dropped the temp 5 deg at night, then back to 70 at day time

for 1 yr then we removed the programmable one and went to a standard thermostat, and left it at 69 deg 24/7

we saved over $1,000 a yr on the electric and fuel bill with the standard thermostat.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage?Ultimately depends on the time of year. I'm assuming we're talking about the summer because you said AC. If you turn the thermostat higher during the day (when its hotter), then the AC unit will work less often, thus saving you energy. At the night when it's cooler, even though the AC thermostat has been lowered, the AC unit doesn't have to compete with the sun's direct heat which makes it cheaper to operate.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage?Any time you set your thermostat down you save money. Anytime you raise you thermostat it is costing you money.

If you set it down 2 degs you are saving money. If you set it back up to the original setting you will be right back where you started if you hadn't set it down. You save money during the time it is set down and you spend the same money during the time it is set back to the original setting. A net saving.

People so think otherwise have never sat down and done the math.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage?adjusting your thermostat 2-3 will only save you money.

adjusting it 10+ is where your theory baffles many. but it still saves money...

the lower the thermostat the more money you will save no matter how much you change it.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage? It is all relative . So it all averages out.Does constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage?when it goes lower it saves you money that is what you are suppose to do 5degrees is betterDoes constantly changing the thermostat temperature 2-3 degrees affect electricity usage? When you ask, %26quot;Does constantly changing the thermostat....affect electricity usage?%26quot;, the answer is %26quot;Yes, it saves electricity usage.%26quot; Any time you turn something off, you save, and raising the AC thermostat setting will turn the AC off for longer periods of time. You cannot save more than when the unit is off.

However, when you ask, %26quot;Does changing the thermostat cause the AC to work harder to maintain the temperature?%26quot;, again the answer is %26quot;Yes, it will be harder to maintain the desired temp.%26quot; This is where most people think that the catch up time causes the unit to run more and therefore use more electricity. When outside temps are changing, it is harder to illustrate my next point and make comparisons. So, first, consider the following.

Let's say that the outside temp maintains an outside temp of 100 degrees F. Let's also say that the AC in question is able to cool the house to 78 degrees F, and no lower, as long as the outside temp maintains 100 deg. F. If I keep my thermostat at 77 degrees, my AC will run 24/7, and will never turn off. If I raise my thermostat two or three degrees, my AC will enjoy SOME off time, and therefore save SOME electricity. As the thermostat setting is lowered, longer run times will be required of the AC to maintain the lower temp.

The above scenario is almost exactly the way it has been where I live. When the outside temp is approx. 95 to 100, the inside temp of my house would never get below 78 degrees. When my wife and I leave home in the morning, if we keep the thermostat at 72 degrees, the house would be at 78 when I got home in the early afternoon. At night when the outside temp lowers to 70 or 75 degrees, there obviously will be a point when the thermostat will be satisfied and turn off the AC. However the lower the thermostat setting, again the longer the AC will run. I thought that if I kept the AC on all day with the thermostat setting as low as 72, that's the temp I would enjoy when I got home. My AC was never going to be able to reach that temp anyway.

Notice the following quote from Michael Bluejay's website:

%26quot;It's a myth that leaving the AC on while you're away at work uses less energy than turning it on when you get home. Here's why:

Heat goes to where it's not. That's why heat from outside goes into your cooler home. With the AC off, at some point your house will be so hot it can't absorb any more heat. When you come home and turn the AC on, the AC removes all that heat.

But if the AC is on when you're gone, then you've turned your house into a heat magnet. But keeping it artificially cool, there's no limit to the amount of heat it can absorb. It can always absorb more heat. And your AC has to remove that heat constantly. Your AC kicks in and removes some of that heat, then the house is cooler so it sucks in more heat from outside, so your AC kicks in again and removes that heat, and so on.

This means that throughout the day, your house has absorbed way more than one houseful of heat. And your AC had to remove it all. By contrast, with the AC off all day, then it has to remove just one houseful of heat when you come home and turn it on.

Let's say you leave the AC off, and your house absorbs 20k BTU's of heat and then stops, because that's all it can absorb.

Now let's say that you have the AC running instead. The house absorbs 5k BTU's of heat, so the AC kicks in and removes it. Then it absorbs another 5k BTU's, and your AC kicks in and removes that. Repeat that process several times during the day.

    The actual numbers will vary, and I haven't tested this to see exactly how much the penalty for leaving the AC on during the day is, but there is zero question that running the AC all the time uses more energy than turning it on when you get home. This is not a gray area, it's simple physics, and no person with any knowledge of this subject disputes it. Running the AC when you're not home wastes energy, period.%26quot;

    I hope this helps.

How do I change the batteries in a Honeywell wall mounted thermostat?

What kind of battery does this unit take? I can't figure out how to get the cover off.

Thanks! How do I change the batteries in a Honeywell wall mounted thermostat? You didn't say what model of thermostat. I assume that you mean an electronic programmable model.

Check around the edges along the top, sides, %26amp; bottom for a slot that you can insert a small flathead screwdriver.

Without applying too much force you should be able to pry it open.

Some models allow you to pinch the front cover inwards with the fingers of both hands so you can gently release the cover from the back plate %26amp; pull it away.

Your best bet is to try to find the original installation manual for your product. It should explain how to open the unit up.

Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture?

I have an older round thermostat for my oil-burning heating system, and I just bought a digital model on clearance. I've changed light fixtures, installed ceiling fans, and done some other simple electrical work. Will I be able to change this thermostat easily? Anything I should watch out for? Or, any handy tips?Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture? You should be able to handle a thermostat. Heat only, two wires.

Heat/cool ,4 wires. There should be a jumper that goes from RC to RH, on some models. But, White to W terminal, Red to R terminal (Jumper to RH and RC) Green to G terminal and yellow or blue to the Y terminal. Level and secure to wall with anchors. Read instructions on t-stat for any specifics, but basically that is it. Change 1 wire at a time from thermostat to thermostat. Shut off power to oil burner before starting. Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture?Very easy.

There's one red wire, and one white wire. (If you have central a/c, there will be an additional yellow wire.)

Follow the schematic in the instructions for the correct placement of the wires. Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture? If the thermostat is modern, it will accommodate both heating and cooling and will include a clock for night setbacks. So I'd say it's about twice as complicated as an ordinary fixture, closer to a dual-switched circuit. But there are detailed directions in the box. I am sure that if you follow them carefully, you will have no trouble. Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture? It is not too bad. Hold then new one up while you take the old one off, see where the wires go into the old and put in the same place on the new. it is pretty basic, but you definately want to pay attention. Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture?easy....just pay close attention to the wire color and the terminal screw label..... i.e..... there will be a white wire and it is attached to the screw marked W on the thermostat... write it down!Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture?Just one thing to know the thermostat that you are going to remove may have a Mercury switch in it that you do not want to throw in the garbage. It should be taken to a hazardous material waste station or maybe your heating oil supplier will take it and dispose of it.If it has a Mercury switch it have a small glass bulb with silver liquid[Mercury] in it.Is changing a heating thermostat as easy as changing a light fixture?yes... be sure to mark the wires to corresponding position on the old one and try to plan how you'll install the new one BEFORE removing the old one (make a sketch if necessary and denote the colors of wire). pretty straightforward but plan the installation first to avoid rework.

How do you change a thermostat on a 1989 ford mustang with a v8?

Make sure you have a new gasket, your new thermostat, some silicone screwdriver, a pair of plyers, wrench or rachet and socket (probably 1/2%26quot; or 9/16%26quot;) no sure,a flat blade and a small bucket.

First, you'll probably have to drain some water from the pitcock on the bottom, inside of the radiator. Take off the radiator cap, use the plyers to loosen the pitcock, then slowly turn it with your fingers... drain maybe a gallon into a clean bucket, then tighten it back up.

Next, follow your coolant hose attached to the upper portion of your radiator to the intake manifold. That should be your thermostat housing. Loosen the hose from the housing, be prepared for a little coolant to run out.

Now, remove the thermostate housing bolts or nuts with a wrench or rachet and socket. You may have to pry the housing from the intake manifold with a screwdriver. Pull the housing off, clean both surfaces of the manifold and thermo housing of the old gasket with your flat blade. Replace to thermostat the same direction the current one is facing. Take a small dab of silicone and smear it on each of the surfaces you just cleaned with the blade. Put the gasket on the manifold surface and line up the bolt studs or hole. Thinly coat the gasket with silicone, and place the thermostat and housing back over the new gasket and tighten the bolts or nuts up.... they should be torqued on, but just tighten them up snug. Place the hose back on. Fill the water back into the radiator and your good to go. Start your car and let it run till it is warmed up. You should let your car warm and cool before you drive off with it to ensure the new thermostat is working properly. It may warm a little above normal, because new thermostats will stick a little before getting broke in.

If you don't think you can do it on your own, any mechanic out there shouldn't have a problem doing it.

IF I remember correctly the thermostat is under the large hose that comes out of the top of the radiator and goes to the engine. Follow the hose from the radiator to the engine and THAT is where the thermostat should be.

Loosen the clamp that holds the hose onto the housing and slip the hose off.

There are two bolts in the housing that must be removed and the thermostat is supposed to be in the housing.

Pay attention to which way the spring is sitting. Toward the engine or away?

Clean the surface and use either silicone sealant or a gasket. Turn on the hot taps in the bathroom and the kitchen. After 5 minutes they will stop. This means that the water in the tank has emptied and the water level is now at the top of the cylinder. (Dont forget your cold water is still turned off). Carefully undo the 1%26quot; union on top of the cylinder (commonly known as the draw off), water will spill slightly so have an old towel to hand. Insert a small tube or hose (about 2 foot long and suck the water out like a syphon into a bowl). This will drop the level of water in the cylinder to lower than the immersion heater connection. Next, isolate the electrical supply to the immersion heater either at the fused spur or at the electrical consumer unit. After positively proving electrical isolation, remove cable connections from underneath cover. Using an immersion heater spanner, carefully unscrew the old immersion from the cylinder. Extra care required as this can be tight and you risk creasing the side of the cylinder. This would then mean a replacement cylinder. Clean threads in cylinder and face of connection with wire wool or a knife to remove any stuck parts of the old washer. Insert new immersion heater complete with washer in reverse order. Tighten using immersion spanner, retighten 1%26quot; draw off union on top of cylinder from where you sucked out the water. Turn cold water on to storage tank and you will hear the tank and cylinder filling up. When water comes out of the hot taps that are still open then you will have filled the cylinder and removed any air locks. Close hot taps and check immersion heater connection. With the new washer and tight connection observe for any water, if dry well done, if wet, the immersion heater will need to be tightened more. Rewire cable to new heater and turn on at fused spur. Total time approx 1 hour.

If your question refers to a cylinder thermostat, no water will need to be removed as the thermostat is strapped to the side of the cylinder about one third up the height of the tank. Contact an electrician or Corgi engineer if you feel uncomfortble in changing the thermostat. You will need to isolate the electrics to the central heating system.

If you have a 'tap stat' then you will need to partially drain down your central heating system, contact a local Corgi engineer if you feel uncomfortable carrying out this repair.

How Do I Change A Thermostat In A Cadillac?

Upper radiator hose. It should be in front of the water jacket( where the hose connects to the engine),How Do I Change A Thermostat In A Cadillac? The same way you change one in any other car. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing. Pull the housing loose and remove the old thermostat. Scrape the housing and engine gasket surfaces clean. Insert the new thermostat. Install a new gasket and bolt the housing back on. To find the housing trace the upper radiator hose back to where it attaches to the engine. The hose attaches to the thermostat housing. Look at which way the old thermostat is pointing, there is a front and back. Install the new one the same way. If unsure, there should be an arrow that points to the radiator.

Toyota camry 1996 V4 thermostat change.?

    Hello

I had overheating. I change two hoses form radiator and no licking form anywhere. Water and oil is great and they are not mix. I think next step belong thermostat or water pump.

Is that right or not? Is this easy to change thermostat?

Can you give me an idea of what the steps are to change this out?

It is a 1996 Toyota Camry and Four cylinders(LE)

    Thanks so much.

ArianToyota camry 1996 V4 thermostat change.?Go find a radiator shop and ask them to check your radiator. Tell them you have overheating problem. NEVER repeat NEVER change any part until you know what is causing the problem.Toyota camry 1996 V4 thermostat change.?http://www.analogstereo.com/to

Toyota camry 1996 V4 thermostat change.?you have an inline 4 not a v4 . But to answer your question, first check the radiator and condenser for trash or leaves that could be blocking air flow, then check condition of coolant, have you had a flush in the last 2 years? coolant breaks down over time and turn to acid and wont cool, it should be changed bi yearly. it most likley is clogged up radiator or heater core, take it to a shop and have it checked they prolly will replace the t-stat and flush out the old coolant and install an additive. How is the car running? sometimes when the car runs really lean it will get hot enough to overheat also.

Will the reading change if I decrease the probe length of the water thermostat?

I need to read the water temperature, the problem is the probe of the water thermostat is too long.

the pipe is 2 inches in diameter while the thermostat is 4 inches long.. So If i cut the thermostat

will the thermostat be broken or will the reading be abnormal already. Will the reading change if I decrease the probe length of the water thermostat?Often the thermometer (that is what I think you mean to get a reading) or a thermostat will be placed in a well in the pipe. That way it can be removed easily without opening the pipe. The well maybe diagonal along the length of the pipe. This means that the 4 inch length can be fine.

There will always be some difference due to the external and internal temperature difference that the thermometer is measuring. If the outside air is warmer than what you are measuring, some of this heat ends up heating the thermometer. The more that the thermometer is immersed the better, within reason.

If it is wholly immersed, it would need to be properly sealed, which they rarely are. The top part where the wires come out are best kept out of any water etc.

Cutting it will destroy it.Will the reading change if I decrease the probe length of the water thermostat? No ,cutting the thermostat may damage the bi metal thermostat(it will not Read at all),better to replace a suitable length thermostat ,it may be cheaperWill the reading change if I decrease the probe length of the water thermostat? You are confusing term although the first answer is sort of still valid - a thermostat is a switch that is either on or off based on the temperature - you don't get a %26quot;reading%26quot; off of it other than on/off. Readings are given by thermometers or thermocouples and yes, either one will be damaged/destroyed by cutting them off. Normally, mounting a long temperature measuring device so that only part of it is immersed will produce readings that contain an error of a few degrees in the direction of the place (i.e. warmer if measuring cold temps indoors, cooler if measuring temps hotter that the air temp.)

HELP! Tried to change digital thermostat, now no heat....and its cold!?

Last night I went to change my heat pumps thermostat (a honeywell manual with the mercury inside) to a Digital programmable LUX thermostat (and yes its for a heatpump).

Firstly I killed power to the unit at the breaker, swapped over the thermostat, fired the power back up and nothing, couldn't get heat/cool/or fan.

It was cold last night so I tried to put the old thermo back on, and still nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.HELP! Tried to change digital thermostat, now no heat....and its cold!?if you didn't kill the power to the to the furnace you probably shorted the low voltage transformer out the power to the thermostat gets it power from the furnace not the heat pump. the red wire is the feed the green is fan the white is heat the blue is common you then should have 3 wires going to the heat pumpHELP! Tried to change digital thermostat, now no heat....and its cold!?it is only 4 wires first i would not of shut the power off it is low voltage but anyway wire the old one back up then turn the dial to the setting you want. 4 wires keep trying the wire combination till you get it right or call a repair guy then leave stuff alone that you dont know anything about.HELP! IF you did the wiring yourself, you probably messed up and I would have to physically see it to know what.... IF.. however, you did not do the wiring yourself.. there should be a RESET button on it.. If so.. press that and start over again.. I have a programmable one myself and I prefer the old fashioned manual oneHELP! Is it better to set your thermostat at one temp and leave it, or change it when leaving, or asleep?

Say, would I save more energy/money if I keep my thermostat set at a certain degree all year round..or if I mess w/it constantly between a degree or two? We have 3 floors, two a/c units and thermostats. My toddlers sleep on 3rd flr and obviously warmer there..so I set it at 72 in summer(now, been in 90's) but step child and boyfriend keep messing w/it cos are cold on 2nd flr and put it to 75. They are all into the environment, etc..so I tell them to let it alone, add a blanket. What do you think, know? Shouldn't I just let it alone at same temp and not alter it?Is it better to set your thermostat at one temp and leave it, or change it when leaving, or asleep?first and foremost do not listen to any advice on set temperatures. your set point is based on your comfort zone.everyone's is different, your comfort zone is the temperature that you are comfortable with .once you have that, that's the setting you need to be on and do not adjust it. power company's usely recommend 78-80 for power consumption and this Will however save on your electric bill, but that does not make a difference when you are constantly adjusting the temperature because noone has explained to you what your comfort zone is. after finding your comfort zone the only time you should adjust the temperature is if everyone in the house has a work schedule and is gone at the same time. then you raise it to about 85 while you are gone. this should be a 8hr work day. if not, find your comfort zone and leave it alone. now to the other issues. the third floor is going to be your hottest floor because heat rises and as for you liking it at 66degrees, make sure your thermostat is reading properly because 66degrees seems to be a bit cold. that setting could be your comfort zone but the temperature might not be reading right if your thermostat is out of calibration. and one more thing, if that is the correct temperature in the house and you are having hot flashes, your settings will not do anything for that. i hope this info help you good luck.Is it better to set your thermostat at one temp and leave it, or change it when leaving, or asleep? You should definatley leave it on a certain temp. Its recommended 75 for the summer i believe. I would do all the floors the same and tell them to add more blankets or sleep w/o blankets. Tell them to leave it or your bill will go nuts with it changingIs it better to set your thermostat at one temp and leave it, or change it when leaving, or asleep? It isn't the changes in temperature setting that use more energy, it is the amount of time your AC or heater is running.

It sounds like there is a big temperature difference between the two floors. We've found fans a big help, one to blow cold air up from the downstairs, and others in rooms to create a breeze.

72 is quite low temperature to be running AC. Unless your toddlers' room gets much warmer than the thermostat setting, you should be setting it higher. We shoot for 78 - 80 in the warmest areas (which are also our bedrooms) when running AC. I just bought my 3 year old this summer's supply of PJs with shorts.

The power companies often run ads about clock thermostats, and recommended temperatures (78 or higher when home, 85 when you're away). These digigal thermostats are easily programmed so you can have different temperatures set for different times of the day. I installed one that has separate temps for AC and heater.

Each clock thermostat will cost about $30, and figure 20 minutes to an hour to install and program. You get great energy savings by running your AC or heat less when you aren't home, and in cold weather, letting the temperature drop a bit over night, after you've got your bed warm and cozy.Is it better to set your thermostat at one temp and leave it, or change it when leaving, or asleep?i have a house that is very difficult to heat/cool comfortably...i leave my thermostat set at 77/78 during summer, and about 68/70 during winter...we get too hot,put on shorts,or drink a cool drink...u get too cold, put more clothes on,or grab another blanket,duh...put a cover( like a childproof cover)over ur thermostat that the kids can't get off,and tell them to leave it alone...

Where can i find a password protected thermostat so someone can not change the temp?

Don't really wanna put a big old lock box on it.Where can i find a password protected thermostat so someone can not change the temp?Honeywell and WhiteRogers brands have a lockout feature built into their higher end thermostats and they are generally made to work with any type system.

They are available at most of the DIY suppliers, expect to pay around $150 or more because they are usually used in a commercial setting and have all the bells and whistles built in.Where can i find a password protected thermostat so someone can not change the temp?I haven't heard of any password protected. But many of the premium thermostats have a built in locking feature. For more info, check out the thermostat page at www.hvac-for-beginners.comWhere can i find a password protected thermostat so someone can not change the temp? For heat pump, gas or oil furnace? AC added? Very different thermostats for each application, with the gas and oil furnaces being the simplest. Thermostats for these can be bought at the big box stores (Home Depot, etc). If it is a heat pump, the wiring is much more complex and I would suggest you contact a dealer/installer because you likely won't be able to buy at a retail outlet, and if you did manage to get one, the wiring can be very tricky.

As far as password protection, I would think somebody makes one but haven't actually seen one. Don't blame you for not wanting the cover box, they are ugly and easily circumvented in most cases.Where can i find a password protected thermostat so someone can not change the temp?Go to a heating/ a/c supply house and buy a honeywell pro 8000 touch screen. You can set all the temps you want at different times and also set it to auto changeover for heating and cooling. Then it enables you to partially lockout the screen or fully lock it out, but have never seen a password one, except on computer controlled zone systems like wattmasters.

The top radiator hose runs into it.2003 dodge intrepid 2.7 how to change thermostat bleeder valve housing?I believe you're talking about the same housing were the thermostat sits in , those aren't hard to replace , just un-clamp the hose going to it , unbolt the housing , then clean the surface on the engine that the housing connects to , clean the housing and make sure that both surfaces are fully dry ,clean the housing were the house clamps onto it , replace the clamp with a new hose clamp when reattaching the hose ,then use a silicone high temperature gasket maker , follow its instructions , make you you tighten up the two bolts enough to force the gasket silicone out some around the edges.

Chevy V8 thermostatHow do I change the thermostat in my 98 chevy 350?Hi corey. Do these steps and you will be successful. Locate the thermostat beneath the water neck, which is located on top of your Chevy 350 engine. Next, drain all of the engine coolant from the hose that's connected to the water neck and the radiator. Look for a clamp on the end of the black hose that connects the water neck to the radiator. Simply loosen the clamp, and slide it down the hose toward the radiator. Be prepared for additional coolant leaking out of the hose. Once the hose is disconnected from the water neck, simply move it out of the way. It isn't necessary to disconnect it from the radiator. Be sure to to wear safety goggles!!!!! It would be nice if you put in the year model. But assuming late model with 3.8 it is very simple. possibly even simpler than changing the oil. It is located at top, and front of engine for most vehicles. Right where the upper radiator hose goes into the motor. Will take a 10mm deep socket, wratchet, and extension. Should have both a paper gasket and rubber o-ring. Be sure and clean all old gasket off the housing, and the intake or it will leak. Their is a bleeder on top of the housing. Unless you have run real low on antifreez you should not have to bleed it.How do you change riviera thermostat?Unbolt it an put in a new one.

How do you change a thermostat on a 2005 Chevy Colorado?

2005 Chevy Colorado 5 Cylinder 3.5How do you change a thermostat on a 2005 Chevy Colorado?actually the thermostat is at the end of the radiator inlet hose but it isn't as easy as the other person makes it sound. you need to access the thermostat by coming through the drivers side wheel housing, remove the plastic liner, remove the hose, it is under what looks like the throttle body assembly, he is correct about cleaning the surface of any old gasket stuck to the assembly, clean that up, reassemble the housing then refill with coolant, chevrolet usually has a coolant bleed on top of the engine, looks like a bolt, loosen and remove, fill with coolant until it starts coming out from that bleed hole then replace the bolt, make sure you use the correct coolant when refilling the system, it should be dex-cool, do not use anything else. as long as you use the bleed bolt you will not get any air in the system, good luckHow do you change a thermostat on a 2005 Chevy Colorado?Follow the upper radiator hose to where it meets the engine. There should be a dome and under that dome is the t-stat. Just make sure to clean off the old gasket before re-installing and burp the cooling system. Any air trapped may cause cavitation, damage to water pump, and overheating. Check for leaks when you are done. Strongly recommend getting a repair manual for instructions on burping the cooling system.

Weathertron to Ritetemp thermostat change problem?

I purchased a Ritetemp 8022C thermostat and tried to hook it up last night and found I had too many wires. I looked on their website today and saw that I will need to purchase the 8050C because on my old thermostat I do have an Emergency Heat setting (so I guess that means I have a multistage heat pump). I still have a couple wiring questions though

My old thermostat is a Weathertron (doesn檛 have a number). I labeled the wires I unhooked from it and they are:

    R, O, G, Y, X2, B, W

So now I am looking at the diagrams for the 8050C and I don檛 see any that have all of R, O, G, Y, W

And since I have both O and B, I should tape off O correct

Lastly- I can檛 find any information on what X2 is ?!?

Please help- it檒l be awfully hot at my house tonight if I can檛 get it hooked up after work!Weathertron to Ritetemp thermostat change problem?Heat pumps are tricky. I wouldn't replace the old t-stat unless I had to. To get you out of your current jam though, all you need to do is hook up R,G, Y and O. If there is no %26quot;O%26quot; terminal on your new thermostat you need ot hook O and R together. Your system won't work in the heating mode like this.

You need a thermostat designed for Heat Pumps.
