Which thermostat do I need to change on my Magic Chef Dryer?

My door switch doesn't work so I can open the door while it's running. The heating element turns on for a couple of seconds and turns off. Would the Cycle thermostat or the Hi-limit thermostat be causing this?Which thermostat do I need to change on my Magic Chef Dryer? The hi-limit thermo blows when the unit overheats due to the cycling thermostat not shutting off the heat. If this happens you won't be able to restart the dryer. The hi-limit thermostat doesn't reset, it just blows like a fuse. If you're watching the element with a cover off, then the air that would normally be flowing over the element and travelling on through the passages isn't doing that and the element can't get rid of the heat it's making. That's probably why it's cycling on and off quickly. It normally cycles on and off, but usually heats for several minutes to get the air hot before shutting down for a period of time. Check to make sure the vent passages are all clear of lint and that the lint filter screen is clean. Check that by running a light stream of water into it. If the water beads up and sets on the screen and won't go through easily, then air can't get through easily either.Which thermostat do I need to change on my Magic Chef Dryer?well thats a trick question if theres not enough airflow across the element the high limit will kick out. the cylce thermostat may be going bad but i would look real close at the duct work making sure its not clogged up inside and out. also the drum runs on guides that fi they are getting worn down they will drag on the basket causing the fan not to run as fast. if your a do it yourself them are things to look at but it can be tricky to figure out so if your in doubt call a tech to look at it oh yeah dont forget to replace the micro door switch
