The thermostat on that is under the radiator cap which is on the engine. Pull the cap off and the thermostat is right there, pull it out and put another one in, top off coolant and bleed the system. How do i locate and change the thermostat in a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse? The thermostat is located under the housing where the upper radiator hose connects. Drain the coolant and if its very old you might as well replace it with fresh coolant when your done. To remove the housing just take the two bolts off and if its still tight tap it with a small hammer. Tap not beat. Use a scraper to clean the old gasket off and once the surface is clean install the new thermostat inside the housing. It will only gfit the right way which is with the spring down.
