How do I change the thermostat on a 2000 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 , 4 cylinder?

It is in front of the engine on the right side near the exhaust manifold between there and the fan, this car has a reverse flow cooling system on this car, thermostat is on engine side of lower radiator hose.How do I change the thermostat on a 2000 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 , 4 cylinder?Its in the lower radiator hose.



REMOVE



1. Disconnect negative battery cable

2. Drain and recover coolant until level is below the thermostat.

3. Unfasten outlet to inlet attaching bolt and nut, then remove the outlet.

4. Remove thermostat. Clean inlet manifold and outlet mating surfaces.



INSTALL



1. Put a new O-ring on the thermostat.

2. Place thermostat in the inlet manifold.

3. Attatch coolant outlet to inlet manifold (bolt %26amp; nut) and tighten to 89 inch lbs

4. Refill engine cooling system

5. Connect negative battery cable, start engine and check for coolant leaks.



*Use orange colored, silicate free coolant meeting GM standards (GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL)
